Zahlreiche öffentliche Thermalbäder beziehen das 51 °C warme Wasser aus 36 Quellen der Umgebung. Auch an sportlichen Aktivitäten bietet Leukerbad einiges: Die beiden Ski- und Wandergebiete Torrent und Gemmi sind mit einer Seilbahn von Leukerbad aus erreichbar. Leukerbad (1,402 m above sea level) is situated in the Dalatal valley close to Sierre below the Daubenhorn (2,974 m above sea level). The winter sports and thermal bath resort in the Upper Valais benefits from the sunny and mild climate of the Rhone Valley and the thermal springs in the neighborhood. The Romans already used the medicinal properties of these springs. Today, Leukerbad is the largest thermal bath and holiday resort in Switzerland. For recreation, several public thermal baths get the water, which has a temperature of 51° C, from the 36 springs in the neighborhood. Also regarding sportive activities Leukerbad has plenty to offer: The two skiing and hiking areas of Torrent and Gemmi can be reached from Leukerbad via cable car.
